Did you know “unexplained infertility” does not exist in Eastern medicine?💫
Yes, it’s true! Through a different lens and method of examination, unexplained becomes explained. And once we have an Eastern medicine diagnosis then we have a clear path to a customized holistic treatment to get to the root and other aspects of wellness, hormone balance and fertility. This can lead to a healthy conception, pregnancy and ultimately healthy baby. I’ve seen this time and time again.
This was the case for Elisa, a 40 year old woman. Two years ago she had a healthy baby boy after 1 miscarriage and 2 IUI attempts. Then her and her husband tried to conceive (TTC) for one year. She was wondering what was going on with her fertility and went into a fertility clinic for an evaluation.
All female and male labs were normal, and her fallopian tubes were clear (from imaging from a hysterosalpingogram, HSG). This lead to her diagnosis of unexplained infertility.
They continued on with 4 rounds of triggered ovulation with letrezole and TTC on their own. Then moved to 2 unsuccessful IUI attempts, and then she came into Wild Rose Fertility clinic. I diagnosed her as having Kidney Yin deficiency (some of her signs/symptoms: dizzy spells, dry eyes, fatigue w menses, scant cervical mucus, dry red tongue, rapid/thin pulse). I believe this was the root of her infertility challenges.
Her treatment plan included
- Take a break from TTC!
- High quality supplements for egg quality and hormonal balance
- Increased exercise
- Dietary changes
- Mindfulness practices
- Regular acupuncture treatments
And guess what? She became pregnant naturally within three months. 💗 Now, every case is unique but I have seen this scenario happen time and time again. Eastern medicine is often a missing link on the path to fertility.
